soli-wanderlust asked: Desiree! I miss you :( But I wanted your thoughts on Pharrell's "New Black" ideology. Look it up if you haven't already. I think you'll find it interesting.

Awww I miss you too :). Oh and yeah I caught a wiff of his bs yesterday, but decided to go look at it today when I saw your question. I’m not really surprised at all, and insensitive to it. Because some rich black males (kanye!!!) will shuck and jive for white people at all costs. They use classism to say racism is eradicated, not realizing that racism will extend over class. For instance Oprah is beyond rich, but racism still affects her life. ie: her shopping in abroad and being told she couldn’t afford a pricey bag. See the way contemporary racism and white supremacy works is to act like it doesn’t, because when you are not aware of a problem you won’t seek to tear it down. That’s why I am all about awareness. Everyone needs to wake up, before the revolution can see its fullest potential :)

Queen Nanny was a True person of Resiliency and Courage and renowned for her efforts in Jamaica growing up in slavery. Queen Nanny was kidnapped from Ghana as a child and forced into slavery during the late 1600’s and was raised in some of the worst conditions in the early 1700’s. Nanny was influenced by the Maroons who were former slaves that fled plantations and formed their own communities in Jamaica’s interior.

Nanny and her brothers ran away and escaped from their torturous slavery at the plantation. They led several revolts across Jamaica. Queen Nanny was a well-respected, intelligent spiritual leader who was instrumental in organizing the plans to free slaves. For over 30 years she freed almost 1000 slaves and helped them settle into these new Maroon communities.
She defeated the British forces that enslaved them in many battles. Despite repeated attacks from the British soldiers on Grandy Nanny’s settlement which was formed in her honor and called Nanny Town, it remained under Maroon control for years with successful defenses. The school system won’t tell you about the Legendary Queen Nanny, but she is referred to as the “Mother Of Jamaica” and known as a true Hero and Leader. SanCopha Salute!

The Myth of Working Your Way Through College - Svati Kirsten Narula - The Atlantic (via infoneer-pulse)

In 1979, when the minimum wage was $2.90, a hard-working student with a minimum-wage job could earn enough in one day (8.44 hours) to pay for one academic credit hour. If a standard course load for one semester consisted of maybe 12 credit hours, the semester’s tuition could be covered by just over two weeks of full-time minimum wage work—or a month of part-time work. A summer spent scooping ice cream or flipping burgers could pay for an MSU education. The cost of an MSU credit hour has multiplied since 1979. So has the federal minimum wage. But today, it takes 60 hours of minimum-wage work to pay off a single credit hour, which was priced at $428.75 for the fall semester.
ekki-neitt asked: How are the black panthers different from the KKK? Publicly shouting that we need to kill cracker babies is somehow okay because the group is black? Do you realize how fucking dumb you sound?

When was the last time the Black panthers Lynched anyone?

When’s the last time the Black Panthers burned crosses in someone’s yard?

When’s the last time the Black Panthers completely destroyed white towns for fear of their prosperity?

Have the panthers ever burned down any white schools to keep white people “in their place”?

Are these white folks serious?! Please, please…do yourselves a favor and earn some citations on this country’s history. The Black Panthers were NOT like the Klu Klux Klan. Their objective was not to go around and terrorize and murder white people. The KKK however, was definitely a reactionary terrorist/extremist group. The Klan emerged during “The Nadir” (the lowest point) in 1877, after poor and disenfranchised whites stomped out Reconstruction and Blacks ultimately lost their civil rights. White people losing their mobility in this country was the core reason for terrorizing African Americans, but after that bullshit, 15 reels, massive 3-hour long movie “The Birth of a Nation" was released in 1915, now all of a sudden, Black people became barraged with this false image of themselves as threatening, violent, and barbaric, particularly to white women in society (The New Negro Crime) which ultimately led to hundred of thousands of lynchings and murders of Blacks in America. The Klan had one objective, to exterminate Black people. They spurred false rhetoric, hate, and violence…that’s it!

The Black Panthers was a revolutionary socialist organization that started in the mid-1960’s in Oakland, CA aiming to PROTECT the Black community. They were against police brutality, imperialism, capitalism or anything they felt was detrimental to Black Americans. They wanted Black people to fend for themselves, that’s why they carried guns, and they used them cautiously. They helped the sick, the poor, single mothers and their children, they even implemented a free ambulance and breakfast program in the community, yet they’re like the KKK?! Their goals were simple: quality education, housing, employment, and civil rights. They were not a violent group and neither was Malcolm X, contrary to popular opinion, they just believed in their right to self defense. The bottom line is, The Black Panther Party was a mobilization by African Americans, and people of the African descent across the world to break down institutionalized oppression by any means necessary. And FYI, many whites supported like Marlon Brando, and others.

*Don’t disrespect my people and Blackness!

I love the dialogue that whitepeoplesaidwhat starts.

Reminder to confident fat women! Be sure to tone down the way you project your self love into the confidence that you’ve worked so hard to achieve so all those self validating thoughts and feelings and opinions you’ve developed as fully realized human beings doesn’t compromise the potential for that dude to get a stiffy.

We wouldn’t want that.

Women don’t owe you shit
